[Chemical name]
Sodium chlorite solution
Molecular formula: NaClO2
Molecular weight: 90.45
CAS NO.: 7758-19-2
Appearance: Yellow-green solution
[Quality Standard]
Chemical Industry Standard: HG/T3250-2023
[Product properties]
Sodium chlorite is alkaline and easily soluble in water and alcohol. Sodium chlorite is relatively stable at room temperature and normal storage conditions. Its stability is greater than sodium hypochlorite and less than sodium chlorate. When the solid and alkaline aqueous solution is heated above 170°C, it decomposes into sodium chlorate and sodium hypochlorite. When exposed to acid, it easily decomposes and releases the two chlorides. Oxidizing chlorine gas. It is easy to explode or burn when in contact with, impact, or friction with wood chips, organic matter, and reducing substances!
[Product Uses]
This product is mainly used to make chlorine dioxide disinfectant, and is also used for bleaching cotton, linen, fiber, oil, pulp, etc., surface treatment of certain metals, and water sterilization.
[Storage and transportation, precautions]
Sodium chlorite solution belongs to Category 8 hazardous chemicals, UN NO:1908. During transportation, it must not be mixed with acids and reducing substances; it should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from fire and heat sources, and must not be mixed with acids and reducing substances. In case of fire, water, sand, and dry powder fire extinguishers can be used to put out the fire. Sodium chlorite dust is irritating to respiratory tubes, eyes and skin. If its solution accidentally splashes into your eyes or skin, you should rinse it with clean water immediately.
